Does Downtime provide music for wedding ceremonies as well?
Yes – we can cover both the ceremony and reception. You will receive a discount if you book both. Please see the “Ceremony” section of our website for ceremony instrumentation suggestions.
Will the band introduce the wedding party and keep my reception moving?
Yes – We will take care of all emceeing duties for the evening such as announcing the first dance, father/daughter, cake cutting, garter/bouquet, special requests, toasts, etc.
Will the band learn any special requests?
Yes – our standard contract includes learning up to 2 songs not currently on our song list for your event. We are always adding songs to our repertoire, so any suggestions would help. Songs beyond the standard 2 can be considered depending on notice and for an additional cost.
How do we book Downtime?
Call or fill out the information needed by clicking on the booking inquiry link. We will make sure we are available, send you a quote, and answer any questions you might have . We will discuss the details of your event, and then send you 2 contracts. You will return one with the deposit which is a ¼ of the total amount.
Does Downtime play outside ceremonies and receptions?
Yes – When playing outside receptions with the full band, we require a tent with optional fold down sides in case of rain. Our instruments, sounds and electric equipment must be set up on a concrete or hard surface. (We cannot set-up on the bare ground.) We can accommodate any ceremony outside and a tent is not required.
Can Downtime provide a PA system for outdoor ceremonies?
Yes – We have 2 separate PA systems, so we can provide a microphone for your wedding ceremony and move straight to the reception smoothly, with no break or inconvenience.
Does the band do early set-up prior to guests arriving?
Yes – The band can be finished setting up 1 hour before the start of your event. A set-up fee will be charged for set up earlier than 1 hour out, and the fee is based upon the amount of time needed.
Does the band have dance floor lights?
Yes – At your request, we can provide floor lights. We have moving, flashing and standard lights that can be used – or not used – in the manner of your preference.
Can the band accommodate the acoustics of any room?
Yes – We are experienced in sound design and will match the equipment to the needs of the room and your event. We also monitor the sound throughout the evening to ensure that you and your guests can hear everything from the toasts to the music.
How many breaks do you take a night and do you provide recorded music while on break?
We will take 2-3 breaks during a four hour reception depending on the structure of the evening. During our breaks, we play recorded music through our sound system. We can provide the break music, or you can provide us with CDs of specific music that you want to hear. Our mission is to keep your party going and to keep all of your guests entertained and our breaks will not interfere with this process.
Can the band provide music during dinner or cocktail hour?
Yes – We can provide a variety of options; jazz duo, jazz trio, jazz quartet or solo piano.
Can I choose the band play list and do not play list?
Yes – You have total control over what the band plays and does not play.
