Luckily, the storms quickly passed and guests were able to unwind with Downtime’s jazz trio during the cocktail hour and into dinner. After dinner, Downtime’s eight piece band took the stage and the Bride and Groom danced their First Dance to a very fitting “Margie”.

The bad weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the guests and they danced the night away to a great variety of music. By special request, Downtime performed a Polka, the Chicken Dance, and several ballads.

A very special shout out to Jackie and the amazing staff at the 9th Street Abbey for dealing with the weather so calmly and smoothly, and to Megan Thiele Studios for the beautiful pictures.

Congratulations to Marjorie and Aaron – as your Best Man joked, I’m glad we “Survived the Schmeering” together!

Downtime’s jazz trio played for both the cocktail hour and dinner, and then as dinner concluded, the eight piece band kicked off dancing with the Bride and Groom’s First Dance to “Stay Forever”. Judging from the last time we played for this family, Downtime knew this was going to be another great night! They started the set with “My Girl” and from the point forward, the dance floor was packed until the last song favorite, “Don’t Stop Believing.”

Thank you to the entire Douglass family for making us feel so welcome in Minnesota and for letting us be a part of your family’s special day – Congratulations to Erin and Ryan!

Downtime anticipated a dancing crowd when hired to provide four hours of dancing, and dance they did! Of the approximately 750 guests attending, no fewer than 500 were packing the dance floor all night. The crowd loved a wide range of music, so Downtime covered Motown to Swing to Disco to Current Pop Hits. By the client’s request, they even performed a traditional German Polka!

Rebecca was so appreciative and couldn’t stop talking about how great Downtime was, especially for their First Dance. She also shared that the Groom mentioned to her that it sounded like a recording when the band played.

2011 was an amazing year for Downtime Band. We had the honor of playing at over 70 weddings as well as numerous other social events, galas, and corporate functions. In February, Downtime Band was honored to be nominated in the Best Music Category for the St. Louis Bride Awards Dinner. Every day I am thankful to have a career that I love and to be so passionate about where the band and Downtime Productions is headed. I truly love the wedding industry and the opportunity to work among the amazingly talented peers that it consists of.

Mandy, and her new husband Dave, had hired Downtime’s 7-piece band. The band left early on Sunday morning in order to make it on time. Mandy and Dave had their ceremony and their reception in the same place and Downtime provided all of the music. The band’s solo pianist played for the ceremony, the jazz trio performed for the cocktail reception, the solo piano player returned for the dinner hour and then the party began with the full band! The newlyweds danced to Jack Johnson’s “Better Together” and then Downtime kicked the party off. The guests kept the dance floor packed until the very last song.

After the ceremony, the guests were ready to celebrate. John and Abbey hired Downtime’s jazz trio to provide music for a cocktail reception and for dinner. After the meal was over, the guests moved to the open terrace in front of the fountain where they discovered Downtime’s 8-piece band was ready to help them party! The bride and groom chose Tim McGraw’s “My Best Friend” as their first dance, and the dance floor filled up as soon as they were done. The party lasted until midnight and everyone in attendance had a great time!
